Carmarthenshire

Pendine Sands

Due east from the lodge the vast stretch. 7 miles, of sand can just about be seen from the tip of the harbour at Saundersfoot

The first person to use Pendine Sands for a world land speed record attempt was Malcolm Campbell. On 25 September 1924 he set a world land speed record of 146.16 mph (235.22 km/h) in his Sunbeam 350HP car Blue Bird.

This year on 21/7/2025 is the 100th year anniversary of Campbell achieving 150 mph.

You can drive on the beach at certain times. Not at 150 mph sadly.

8 miles, 18 mins via the coast. Slightly longer in land.

Llansteffan

20 miles, 33 mins.
