The closet pub restaurant to the lodge about 1 mile easy walk along the path at the bottom of the valley in front of the lodge. Good different pub food overlooking the sea - bliss!
Incidentally the location is so named because Churchill and Eisenhower stayed here while observing the rehearsals for the D-Day Landings at nearby Amroth. There are several photos on the walls.
Recommended we've here multiple times.

Saundersfoot is a wonderful place with a vast selection of restaurants and pubs and cafes.
Easy to get to by foot and road. We tend to park at Coppid Beach, the car park is easier to navigate and the machine easier to use.
Here are a selection of our favourites for you to choose from and enjoy. Please let us know your comments.
Not much to look at from the outside but is the best seafood restaurant in Wales and is our fav restaurant of all time.
It is very small so you must book well (like weeks) in advance.
We are looking to going with former business colleagues and globe trotting friends Paul and Angela in mid August 2025.
Portions sizes are generous and we like to go for the lunchtime seafood sharing platter.
Added bonus Laura usually gets reequipped with earrings, made by the owners mum and sold as a side line.
“A varied menu showcasing some of Pembrokeshire's best produce” as well as Laura’s favourite beer.
We like to sit on the terrace looking over the town, beach and sea.
It is part of a chain of 2, the other is part of the Habwr Brewery in Tenby.
“A modern British pub steeped in Welsh heritage, est. 1837. From fresh seafood to favourite pub foods, we serve excellent food made from the finest seasonal produce. A hearty meal in a relaxed and welcoming setting, seconds from the harbourfront and beaches. Perfect for families and children!"
Right next door to the Harbwr we have never been. Although once went through the door and it made us feel disloyal.
Next door to Tesco is very popular and always full when we try to go there. Sol and her girly friends managed to get a table and loved the seafood - I suspect ageist discrimination.
At last Rod and Laura got in for Sunday lunch with Steve and Anita in September 2025. To round things off after a weekend to experience an incredible Whitney Houston tribute show. They squeezed us in at 12 o'clock - the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Food is smashing (Rod had the local lamb) with Steve and Anita reckoning it was better value that the New In Amroth.
Outwardly gives the impression of posh, we entered from the beach but inside is true real ale oldies drinkers pub with an open fire, pub food, rock music and no wi-fi. Food great and recommend the Cawl (as in cauldron, which is lamb stew). The pub has recently become a Harbwr Pub which is a good move.
The Gents spray on to stainless experience takes me back to the sixties and seventies (1 out 10 on the AW scale). The bar is the sort of place to bump into the oldest chemists of all - Bob Sewell-Alger or Nick Burn.
Frequented by trendy well-travelled Londoners such as Joel & Sian Waugh this a short walk /climb up St Brides Hill.
It definitely is nice-smart. A voted Wales' best hotel in summer 2025. We lowered the tone for the retired professors and well-to-dos with their glam wives taking afternoon tea (In fact Bob SA would be very much at home here too!)
Bristol Eades kindly treated the old man to a awesome afternoon tea for his birthday.
Views to die for overlooking Saundersfoot (we did - viewed not died - in the pouring rain) and the valley nestled below. Coffee is good and reasonable at £3.80 each and came with homemade shortbread stacked like Jenga. Didn’t need to try the gents but am assured the ladies scored 9 on the Alli Waugh scale. Watch out the tiled floors are very slippy for wet boots.
Along The Strand and almost opposite The Olde Chemist Inn. Alli and Sam rave about the monster portions. Scones are 3 times normal size. July 2023 update Cal and Sol were also impressed by this place, Cal had the all-day breakfast which included the largest portion of scrabbled egg. Must be good, it’s rare for Alli and Cal to see eye-to-eye on anything.
Situated at the far end of Saundersfoot harbour. Serves a wide variety of flavoured Welsh Cakes. Cal raves about this.
Our fav outdoor café and stop-off from the lodge to Saundersfoot. Look out for the robins hopping on the tables. (Interesting fact brought to you by Rod - Coppett Hall used to be known as Coal Pit Haul)
For Peppa fans - listen out for the assistant who has a voice that sounds like Miss Rabbit.
Toilets very nice for public toilets 8AW.
Another recommendation by the Princes. Sit all day on the beach with a fiver’s worth of parking ticket, coffee from the shop, a couple of camp chairs and a knotted hanky.
Situated on top of The Kiosk Cafe we have often examined the mouth watering menu of this Michelin starred restaurant and wondered - can we be bothered to dress up?. Being slobs we never have.
The restaurant is somehow connected to The Grove - which you can find on this page. This is what the Michelin Guide says. "Meaning ‘seashore’ in Welsh, Lan y Môr is an apt name for this stunningly located beachside restaurant; grab a table on the enclosed terrace to make the most of the view. The menu offers something for everyone, whether you’re after ‘Sea’, ‘Pasture’ or ‘Land’, but in this location your eye is sure to be drawn to the oysters, ‘frockles’ (fried cockles) and fish of the day. Ensure you save some room for pudding, especially if the terrific chocolate and cherry cake is on the menu".
SA67 8NG about 2 miles from the lodge.
Recommended.
Crab sandwiches are to die for but, sadly, not always on the menu.
Excellent to walk to when the tide is out. But check the tides fist.
At the far east end of Amroth and right on the Pembrokeshire-Carmarthenshire border. It is opposite a plaque marking the start of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path.
A tip brought by Steve and Anita Prince for Sunday roast - if it looks like rain stay indoors it could make the Yorkshires soggy.

Next door to the Chinese and close to the station, is the nearest chippy. Pete the owner is a card. Closes at 9pm on Fridays, is cash only, a small F&C will set you back £10.
Saundersfoot has an excellent (not cheap) chippy in the harbour. They close 8pm I think. There are also takeaways for pizza, kebabs.
Chinese Takeaway in Kilgetty, near the train station. Again, never used it but next door recommend.
Tasty Garden Kilgetty another Chinese takeaway is a new addition for 2024. Tucked away in the Coop car park it is easy to overlook.
According to The Times one of Wales' top ten restaurants is right in the middle of Narberth. You can get 10 courses for around £150. Featured in the same The Times article as Black Pool Mill.
Looked through the window but never ventured through the door.
Is recommended by Peter Cole and more recently by Cal and Sol who rate the food as incredible - perhaps they would say this about any restaurant food when grandparents are babysitting.
4 Water Street, Narberth, SA67 7AT
Bike stop and craft café only a short walk from the car park. Jo took Jon there for his birthday brekky in April ’24 and re-enacted this spotio of breakfast in July. Jon says “Excellent food and coffee and environment- suits those preferring more rustic and cycling. Enamel plates and ‘industrial’ interior and outdoor seating. Lots of space outdoors with outdoor table tennis.” Jo adds “toilets are great”.
Rod and Laura visited at the end of July 2024 and can confirm the coffee is excellent as well as the flapjack and cream scones. We visited again at the end (30th) of July 2025 we sat outside in the sun and Laura eat the all day vege breakfast while Rod, on recommendation of Jo, eat Nachos. Excellent recommendation Jo!
Parking can be tricky, options include; walk from the main Narberth car park, there are sometimes the odd space on the road outside with 2 hrs parking, or park in the one the side streets past the Texaco garage.
Spring Gardens, Narberth SA67 7BT. We parked in Springfield Park,

Creswell is featured in a couple of other places., Under Walks as well Places to Go See and Do.
During summer months Friday, Saturday and Sunday the Cresselly Arms becomes a trendy place to visit with superb bbq food as well as real ale beer. Rod approved of the locally brewed Quay Ale.
The Platter for Two, shown by chef Eddie, looks enormous and delicious for £60 (Saturdays only mind). As well as the burgers for a reasonable £15 give or take.
Parking is quite easy alongside the road. We parked opposite the stepping stones. Look at "Walks" for the half day walk to Lawrenny - but keep an eye on the tide tables.
Lawrenny a few miles further on from Cresswell. There are several routes to get there it seems google takes us different every time we visit.
Situated at the junction of two rivers it is a picturesque spot with various places to look at in including the dockyard.
The Quayside Cafe serves amazing crab sandwiches.

Featured in The Times and looks really good. The Sunday lunch. A possibly helpful yardstick is £30 for 3 courses. Laura and Rod visited for a reccy. Stunning beautifully restored old mill the restaurant is over 4 floors (there is a small lift) with the axles and gears running between tables. Nice place for a celebration. Toilets 10AW points.
Midway between Narberth and Haverfordwest (10 miles, 20 minutes)
At 11 miles is a bit further to get to than you think. If you travel there in the daytime use The Ridgeway road, the views are spectacular. We have stayed at this hotel several times for kids-free getaways over the decades and have good memories. Restaurant is a relaxed affair in the conservatory and good for a long chat. Food is pricey but very good.
For a bonus they park the air sea rescue helicopter in the grounds it seems. Never ever seen it fly but you can get really good close-up photos.
"The well-known and popular Dragon Palace Chinese Restaurant, the many years of perfecting Chinese cuisine are all highlighted here. Situated near the seaside resort of Tenby our team of chef’s have had decades of experience and bring along with them a fusion of tastes that will invigorate, excite and mesmerize the pallet. Quality food, service with a smile, popular with locals, go on, indulge yourself, have a Chinese, Dragon style"
That is what they say. Not much to look at from the outside. Again never been although driven past countless time on every visit.
Very convenient, less than 3 miles away on the road to Tenby. Never eaten here but poked my head round the door and took away a menu. Serves a variety of South East Asian dishes plus sausage or chicken goujons and chips for the kids. Looked welcoming and the reviews are positive. Send us a review, this could be an opportunity for you to be famous in our missive.
There two restaurants in this Welsh country house.
We need someone to try it out for us.
Nice coffee nice atmosphere.
